Announcing a new API to share Irregular Rhythm data
Google's Irregular Rhythm Notifications (IRN) feature, launched in 2022 , allows users to passively monitor their heart rhythm in the background using PPG pulse rate. This feature can detect irregular heart rhythms, a potential indicator of atrial fibrillation (Afib).
Google is now expanding this capability by enabling users to share this data with healthcare providers, potentially improving the diagnosis and management of Afib. Google's mission is to empower individuals with accessible tools to better understand and manage their health. By facilitating the exchange of critical health data between users and healthcare providers, Google aims to improve the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions like Afib.
Developers can use the following API endpoints when integrating the irregular rhythm notification data type:
- Get IRN Profile returns the user’s current engagement with the feature.
- Get IRN Alerts List returns list of IRN alerts and all of the alert tachograms.
